Welcome to our travel blog. We are Tabitha and Nic. In 2011 we 'retired' in our early 40s and set off to travel the world. We spent our first year in South America and have been lucky enough to make two trips to Antarctica.

Our blog is a record of our travels, thoughts and experiences. It is not a guide book, but we do include some tips and information, so we hope that you may find it useful if you are planning to visit somewhere we have been. Or you may just find it interesting as a bit of armchair travel.

Penguin caption shots

As I said in the last blog, penguins often take quite an interest in what is happening around them and that can provide a few silly caption photo opportunities.  I thought that I'd share a few with you.

This one in Port Lockroy looked like it was guarding the oil drum and not too happy about it.... "Why do I always get guard duty when it's snowing?"

This one looked like it was wanting to use the machine if only it could work out how....  "It might work if only I could reach the handle"

This little one on the left seemed to be looking at the Plancius and thinking about going on holiday.... " I wonder where it's going next?"

This one looked like it was chasing the walkers up the hill....  "Wait for me!"

This one seemed keen on a pair of snow shoes that had been left lying around....  "Oooh look, someone's left us a sledge!"

And this pair looked as if they were about to take a skua by surprise in a pincer attack movement....  "You go that way, I'll go this way, and we'll get the bugger!"
