Welcome to our travel blog. We are Tabitha and Nic. In 2011 we 'retired' in our early 40s and set off to travel the world. We spent our first year in South America and have been lucky enough to make two trips to Antarctica.

Our blog is a record of our travels, thoughts and experiences. It is not a guide book, but we do include some tips and information, so we hope that you may find it useful if you are planning to visit somewhere we have been. Or you may just find it interesting as a bit of armchair travel.

Back in the UK in 2016

The Buttermarket, Canterbury, Kent, UK
Doha was the last stop on our 2015-16 trip, so at the end of February, we were back in the UK and doing the rounds of catching up with family after our thirteen months away. The plan was to be back here until about November or December 2016 - though it didn't quite work out like that in the end, but we'll get to that in due course.

In the meantime, we did have some shorter trips planned to keep our travel itch at bay. These were: a week in Norway, to see the Northern Lights, which my (Tabitha's) mum was joining us for; a week in Liverpool, going to the Grand National Horse Race, as well as visiting the city; a fortnight in Avignon, France and Barcelona, Spain; a mon
th in the three Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania; a week in Italy with Nic's mum, so that she could see Assisi; and then a month in Eastern Europe, covering Moldova, and a bit of Ukraine and Poland.

The rest of the time we would spend with family, including a couple of cat sits for my parents, or up in London.

So there we are, our plans for most of 2016.
