We were only due to leave at 12:30pm today, which was a pleasant change, so having left a note for our fellow travellers last night warning them that they would need to buy any alcohol they wanted for the next few days, we had a nice lie in and then got up in time to go to the supermarket to stock up on our own wines and beers.
The drive to Cali wasn't too long, and we arrived at the hostel a little after four. As we drove in, we generated a lot of interest from the locals, with people staring and waving, and sometimes even chatting to us through the windows.
Having settled in, it was time to go shopping for our cook groups for the next six nights of camping. We were split into three cook groups and we were the only group that came in on budget; I guess that is the benefit of having done this before.
Having done our shopping, and knowing that Izzie and TJ were going to be doing dinner for about 7:30, we concluded that sadly it wouldn't be feasible for us to take up the salsa lesson that we had been offered the night before. So instead we had a chilled out evening in the hostel with our contraband alcohol.
So we didn't really see much of Cali itself, but perhaps that wasn't a disaster.
Welcome to our travel blog. We are Tabitha and Nic. In 2011 we 'retired' in our early 40s and set off to travel the world. We spent our first year in South America and have been lucky enough to make two trips to Antarctica.
Our blog is a record of our travels, thoughts and experiences. It is not a guide book, but we do include some tips and information, so we hope that you may find it useful if you are planning to visit somewhere we have been. Or you may just find it interesting as a bit of armchair travel.
