Welcome to our travel blog. We are Tabitha and Nic. In 2011 we 'retired' in our early 40s and set off to travel the world. We spent our first year in South America and have been lucky enough to make two trips to Antarctica.

Our blog is a record of our travels, thoughts and experiences. It is not a guide book, but we do include some tips and information, so we hope that you may find it useful if you are planning to visit somewhere we have been. Or you may just find it interesting as a bit of armchair travel.

The extreme fun pub

Dave and Ivan took us along to the Extreme Fun Pub in Uyuni.  I should perhaps warn you now that if you are easily offended, and/or under the age of consent, you might want to stop reading.

This novelty bar is clearly a popular hangout for all of the Dragoman and other tour trucks that pass through.  So what makes it a novelty bar?  The drinks.  Or rather, the drinking vessels.

You can just order a beer in a glass and there are some relatively normal cocktails available too.  Or you can order one of their six shooter drinks.  These come in a pottery cup with one large central cup, six smaller cups around the edge and a drinking spout.  The smaller cups are all connected to the big cup and spout, so that when you drink from it you get a mix of all of the different drinks put in.  They put spirits and liqueurs into the six small cups and either beer or orange juice into the central one.  It is an interesting mix, worth trying for the novelty, but generally not the best tasting.

Then you have the drink served in the cup that has a very large penis as the drinking spout, and the cup shaped like the traditional Bolivian figure of a woman, where you have to lift up the skirt and drink from the ‘vagina’.

Needless to say, Dave and Ivan bought one of each of the three and passed them around resulting in some interesting and slightly dubious photos being taken.

Was it extreme fun - probably not, but it was an amusing way to spend a few hours.
